📣 Big News and our Upcoming Events Across the Globe
Our first Student Leader Awards, Funding Hormonal Health Research, Berlin, New York, London, & Sao Paulo here we come!
Our plans are measured in centuries
There are so many incredible moonshots to discover in women’s health research; never mind that the future of civilization hinges on the Total Fertility Rate (TFR). However, this area of research being so overlooked has made us realize that only those with a great capacity to see the future, identify great opportunities, or are women themselves, seem to be the only ones to see how important it is to be working on this - for now.
Our plan has always been to create a virtuous cycle in women’s health; from funding research to supporting the publishing of research, and now helping a new generation of students to expand and encourage our network of innovation that could lead to things like new treatments for Menopause, better Artificial Reproductive Technologies and the Artificial Womb.
When you hold an ATH Governance token you power all of this.
The AthenaDAO Student Leadership Awards
Funding the Next Gen of Researchers working in Women’s Health.
We’re excited to announce the first AthenaDAO Student Leader Awards. This award is intended to support the next generation of researchers working in women’s health research. From already being published, to working in some of the most exciting labs across the globe, this cohort has a lot of students referred from leaders in the space of Reproductive Longevity.
Gretchen Rosado, an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Brieño-Enriquez Lab at the Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation at the University of Pittsburgh.
Katie Danielson, a PhD candidate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with the Greenblatt Lab at the University of British Columbia. She has previously received the NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award and the Canadian Graduate Scholarship.
Clayton Baker, a PhD candidate in Molecular and Computational Biology in the Benayoun Lab at the University of California Southern California. He has previously received the prestigious AAI Young Investigator Award.
Ryan Lu, a PhD candidate in the Biology of Aging in the Benayoun Lab at the University of California Southern California. He has previously received the Diana Jacobs Kalman/AFAR Scholarship.
Kayla Judson, a graduate student in Cell and Developmental Biology with the Greenblatt Lab at the University of British Columbia. She has previously received a CELL Entrance Scholarship.
Koh Xin Yi, an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Temasek Lifesciences Laboratory.
Zaitoon Zafar, a Master’s of Biotechnology at the University of San Francisco. She previously received an MD from Shalamar Medical and Dental College in Pakistan.
Pamela Limon, a thesis student at Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla and the founder of DeSci Mexico.
We firmly believe that supporting the next generation of researchers with funding and a network will increase our odds of great talent pursuing this area of research and fostering collaboration for the future.
Each leader receives a “cost of living” scholarship valued at $2000 USD to help them stay focused on their work.
Meet the AthenaDAO x ResearchHub Grantees for Hormonal Health Research! 🧬
In collaboration with ResearchHub, AthenaDAO has selected 3 hormonal health projects for crowdfunded grants of $5000 USD each.
We are proud that in collaboration with another amazing DeSci (Decentralized Science) platform, we are able to support incredible researchers working on something that is still massively underfunded in research even though it has a great impact on our health. We are happy to have funded the Smith-Ryan Lab at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, the Jacobs Lab at the University of California Santa Barbara, and the Lujan Lab at Cornell University.
Please note that part of this funding was community-generated and all the projects have been successfully funded! If you want to know more about how this was possible, learn more here.
