When we said we were going all fertility this fall during the announcement for our new Fertility 101 Course this weekend; we meant it. This October we are launching the ADLabs Pop-Up focused on women’s health and fertility!
It has been 20 years since the original pop-up store popularized by the Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons opened in Berlin. Its founder, Rei Kawakubo, a contrarian in the industry had a manifesto:
(GUERRILLA: a small group of independent people fighting for what they believe in) The Idea: To propose to the local population an array of interesting and creative merchandise in a new way, that is not beholden to seasons, or other industry dictates, and where what counts is the choice of goods and the spirit and the energy, rather than the appearance of carefully designed interiors.
In the spirit of Comme des Garçons (Like Boys), we are a small group of independent people fighting for what we believe in. The Idea: To propose to the local population an array of interesting ideas about women’s health and biotech in a new way, that is not beholden to how things have been done, or what the industry dictates, and where what counts is the experience, the spirit and the energy.
Our concept for ADLabs Pop-Up:
Creating an instant buzz;
Allowing for non-committal exposure;
Creating opportunities for brands to experiment;
Informal, cost-effective test beds for new products and concepts
The one-month event will showcase the pioneering fusion of science, community, and brands, bringing together a network of experts, researchers, and innovators focused on women's health and fertility.
For over a month, we will curate in-person experiences designed to cater to women in the Bay Area with knowledge about the latest advancements in fertility and women's health R&D.
Just as how the fashion world declared Fashion Weeks across the world to showcase the latest designs; AthenaDAO is declaring Fertility Month this October to show the general public the latest that the world of research and biotech have to offer to women.
